SOUTH MAUI VOLUNTEERS Join us every Monday morning from 7:30 -9:30-- Meet at the Kihei Boat Ramp (or look for the lime green VOLUNTEER vests at one of the Kamaole Beaches in case we have a project going on at the dunes) . **March & April 2008 Goals--we will be preparing for the return of the protected ground-nesting seabirds, the Ua'u Kani (Wedge-tailed Shearwater), by reinstalling signage and foot barriers, trapping feral cats (which are then turned over to the Feline Foundation for neutering and recolonization), and publicizing information about these amazing birds. In addition, we will be weeding newly planted dune areas, mulching the trail system, and normal maintenance and rubbish pick-up.

Hoaloha ‘Āina is a grass roots organization committed to community stewardship and the protection of our shoreline by protecting the land from vehicular traffic, keeping the land free of trash, and by building and maintaining a walking trail that effectively connects the South Maui Coastal Heritage Corridor. Our mission is to create and maintain a coastal access corridor while facilitating community partnerships to provide a safe, attractive, recreational, cultural, educational environment in South Maui. It begins with individuals who have a commitment to work toward an end goal in cooperation with state and county agencies whose lands are impacted by our endeavors.
